More Gun Guy Nonsense: Deer Hunting and the AR15 in Canada
Beyond the fact that it was a preamble — likely meant to reference the common gun-guy stance that these are all just good ol’ boy guns — and not a policy statement, and strictly speaking, it is true that the AR15 is not legal for hunting here in Canada. That is because it is restricted, and has been since 1977 – largely at the request of the Association of Chiefs of Police apparently.
Oh, but wait – the AR15 is just one of the (literally billions) of versions you can build on the AR platform. It’s like gun Lego. Because of the open-source nature of the AR platform you can buy non-restricted versions in Canada. There is just one pictured below – they were quite proud it apparently. So um yeah – bullshit.
Or perhaps he meant to say the AR10?
Easy mistake - it's functionally the same gun, just in a different caliber (most of the time). Oh yeah - it also has multiple parts that are interchangeable with the AR15, so perhaps that confused him? Can't use an AR for hunting deer though? More bullshit.
Come on gun peeps - make your case to own your assault rifles in a responsible manner. Stop lying, especially the silly ones, and people might be more inclined to listen.
